songwriting, writing, teaching, being a spouse, and parenting. I've found that I "work out my salvation" not so much by doing what is right (although that is important), but by allowing my faith to be expressed naturally, like the fruit of the Spirit spoken of in Galatians 5. God tells us in Ephesians 2:8-10 that we are saved by faith, not of our own doing, but as a gift from Him. As a result of that regeneration, we are His workmanship (literally, poetry), and get to walk in the works that He has prepared in advance for us. My personal experience has confirmed the veracity of this Scripture.
If you have not bridged the gap between your inadequate self and your holy Creator, then cross that bridge NOW: "For there is one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ" (1 Timothy 2:5). "The Son is the radiance of God's glory, and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven" (Hebrews 1:3). Give your heart--your inner, driving motive and will--to Jesus Christ. It's not a matter of following any prescribed steps or joining a particular church. It's about surrendering your will and your old man, and being made new. Your name will be permanently written in the Book of Life (Revelation 20:15), and you will lose nothing of any true value; in fact, you will become the YOU that you were created to be!
