several strong signs that He would bless me in spite of my lying. This happened while at a running camp in North Idaho. The light simply turned on: I did not need to lie, because the Truth was a beautiful thing, and He loved me. That was my rededication, and I've been a full-on disciple since.
     God worked wonderfully in me during college and in the camp ministry where I worked in those summers. First, he brought me several Christian friends that rocked my preconceptions about Christians. I realized that my faith was an amazing fellowship--I belonged to a diverse family of believers, and that diversity further drew out my own individuality. Second, he gave me the exact person I needed for a spouse, and I found that I was exactly what she needed. In the context of marriage I began to better see the heart of God. Don't ever reduce marriage to a cultural invention; it is a sacred institution that God initiated with the very creation of man and woman.
     Since then, my Creator has helped my wife Carrie and I through the trial of infertility, growing our family through adoption, the loss of Carrie's parents in a tragic car accident, and some great challenges among our children. He is faithful to navigate us through this brief life, and has caused us to mature and grow deeper in love with him, both through trials and times of enjoyment.
