Thank you for visiting Richard ("Chard") Berndt's personal website. I'd like to make some basic information about myself available to you, and share more personally about my running and through my writings. If you're interested in more current or trivial stuff, photos or interactivity, you might also visit my Facebook page.
I was born November 27, 1967 in Hong Kong, where my father was a missionary and seminary president, and my mother a registered nurse. Our family of six came to the U.S.A. in 1977. After a few months in Portland, Oregon, we settled in the high desert at Pocatello, Idaho. Since it was there that I experienced life from early fifth grade through high school, I consider it my hometown.
I married Carrie Meyer in 1988. She and I met in Christian camp ministry as counselors. We've been happily married since, along the way adopting four children: Eli (at birth), Isaiah (at 20 months), and together, Brittany and Brandon (at ages 7 and 5); they're all young teenagers now!
